Flyers tie it up

April 26, 2008

These 2 games have very much mirrored the first 2 games of the series with the Capitals. Game 1 of both series the Flyers led and controlled the game for the most part only to lose it late. Then going on to win game 2, I wouldn't say easily but they controlled much of the game.

Biron is definitely proving his worth, the same with Briere who still leads in playoff scoring.

Of the 4 teams left in the East, 3 of them are from the Atlantic Division. Given the playoff match-ups it was impossible to have all 4 teams from the Atlantic advance since the Devils had to play the Rangers. If the match-ups were different it could easily have been Flyers, Rangers, Devils, Penguins in the second round. I think it shows the level of competition the Flyers had to face in the Atlantic Division. hmmm.... maybe I was giving Montreal too much credit. Comparing them to the Capitals it look like the Flyers are having an easier time with Montreal, at least thru 2 games.

Flyers win first round series in 7

April 23, 2008

God I hate the Flyers. Well I don't actually hate them, they just had to do things the hard way.

I had predicted the Flyers would win in 5 and they would had done that, if they didn't decide to play like ass in the 3rd period of game one and in game 5.

In game seven I was just waiting for them to lose. The third period had all the hallmarks them going home, but Biron held them in and they took advantage of the Poti penalty in OT. I do think the Flyers got a huge break when Thor basically caused Huet to be knocked from the crease. But hey, he almost lost a nut earlier in the series, so its all good.

There is nothing like overtime playoff hockey.

Nothing.
