Briere says he’s probable, Carter “rests”

Just spoke with Danny Briere and Jeff Carter and both plan on playing Tuesday night when the Tampa Bay Lightning visit the Flyers at the Wachovia Center. Briere listed himself as probable and is slated to play on a line with LW Andreas Nodl and RW Joffrey Lupul. Carter said his right shoulder, banged up when he was checked into the boards by Joni Pitkanen on Friday, is fine even though he sat out practice. Carter will center a line with wingers Scottie Upshall and Scott Hartnell, which means Glen Metropolit will likely replace center Jonathon Kalinsky on the fourth line.
