Inside the Flyers’ win over Avs

FLYERS 5, AVALANCHE 2: A major factor in the Flyers’ five-week climb up the Eastern Conference standings – they now own the third-best record behind the Bruins and Rangers – has been their special teams play. With their two power-play goals against the Avs they improved to 14-for-33 over their last seven games, pushing them into second place in the NHL. They also scored their league-best 12th shorthanded goal when Jeff Carter finished off a 2-on-1 with Simon Gagne.
