Pluses are what you get when you're on the ice for a goal by your team (except for when you score a PP goal). You earn a minus when the opposition scores a goal and you're on the ice (except if you're on the PK). If you look at a player's statistics you'll see a category labeled "+/-" in which wizards keep track of the number of Goals For you're on the ice for versus the number Against
