MONTREAL - From the time he was 2 years old, Flyers star Jeff Carter was being schooled to be a skater in the NHL. His grandfather, Lyle, remembers him doing crossover drills - in skates, cutting more than a few grooves in his living room carpet in London, Ontario. By the time he was 7, Carter and the rest of his teammates were doing crossover drills that raised the eyebrows of more than a few parents.

East Wins Despite Carter Line

Jeff Carter, Ilya Kovalchuk, and Thomas Vanek did their best to thwart the efforts of the Eastern Conference, but the Russians wouldn't have it, and the East beat the West 12-11 via the shootout in tonight's All Star Game. In just over 17 minutes of play Jeff Carter had 4 shots and managed to earn a minus 3 with two of the most offensively gifted players in the game. At times it looked like Carter missed Crazy Scott Hartnell chasing down his errant passes and crashing the net, and possibly was a little overwhelmed by playing with guys who were just as fast and financially gifted as him
