2009-2010 Flyers Schedule

I have posted the 2009-2010 Flyers schedule and it can be found here.

The season starts 9 days earlier then last season because of the Olympic break in February. This also compresses the schedule some. In March the Flyers play 16 games from March 2 until March 28 with no 2 concurrent days off until March 29.

Not a big fan of the NHL stopping for several weeks for the Olympics, or the Olympics specifically themselves. Just hope no Flyers get injured playing in the Olympics like Gagne did 4 years ago.

Enough Reserves. Mount Up.

Last year Paul Holmgren collected what I referred to, when the Nazi's weren't listening in on my conversations, as "an army of defenseman" during the Flyers off-season. He was bringing in supposedly puck moving defensemen almost every other day: 6/6: Flyers trade Ryan Potulny for Danny Syvert 6/20: Flyers draft Swiss born D-man Luca Sbisa with 19th overall pick, and others... 6/20: Flyers acquire Steve Emminger and 3rd Round pick for a 1st Round pick 6/24: Flyers trade Triston Grant and 7th round pick in 2009 for Janne Niskala, who later becomes a 6th Round Pick in 2009

Flyers will play outdoors at Fenway Park

The Flyers' 2009-10 schedule was released yesterday, and one game stood out: Jan. 1 at Fenway Park in Boston. The Flyers and Bruins will meet in the 2010 Winter Classic, the third straight year the NHL will stage a game outside in baseball or football stadiums in colder climes.

Flyers react to Winter Classic

Flyers defenseman BRAYDON COBURN – On NHL Network following press conference This is something that I view as a very historic and special moment.  I know all the guys in Philadelphia are just really pumped up about having this opportunity. On playing on lakes and ponds in Saskatchewan We’re lucky we have boards here, because back home we played outside and instead of boards we’d have bales of straw and hay to keep the puck from going too far off the ice.  This is going to be just great, especially with the scenery with the Green Monster right behind us and playing at Fenway.  Playing the Boston Bruins, one of our rivals, is going to be real special. On wanting to remember a bunch of things while still preparing for a game I think everyone's coming here with the spirit of having fun and all that, but I think when you win, you have a lot more fun.  So just that competition… there’s a little bit of bragging rights in winning a Winter Classic, so that’s kind of our goal right now.
