JVR headlines Flyers Rookie Camp on Sept. 7

The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that their Rookie Camp at The Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, New Jersey, will open on Monday, September 7 with 29 rookies and prospects expected to be in attendance. The camp will run a total of five days and conclude with a game between the Flyers rookies and the Washington Capitals rookies set for Friday, September 11, at 3 p.m. Among the players participating in this Rookie Camp are first-round draft pick James van Riemsdyk (2007) and defensemen Kevin Marshall , who signed an NHL entry level contract in July of 2008, and Marc-Andre Bourdon , who signed his NHL entry level contract back in July of this year.

Rookie Camp Unknowns

Earlier today the Flyers announced the rosters for their upcoming "Who will replace Simon Gagne Camp" and there were a couple guys in there even the biggest Flyers fan hasn't heard of. Here's who they are and why they've been invited: Tomas Sinisalo - Much like Chase Watson last year, Sinisalo has been invited as a favor to his alliteration loving famous former Flyer father Ilkka who actually still works in the organization as a scout. After giving it a go in North America Tomas fled to the FNL, where after a really rocky start he put up some ok numbers with TPS Turku over the past two seasons. Holmgren gives update on Gagne injury

Medical Update by Paul Holmgren: "Simon Gagne was seen by Dr. Peter DeLuca today and was diagnosed with a mild right groin strain. Simon will have some medicine injected into the affected area Friday morning and will be advised to rest for 1 week before returning to his normal fitness routine
