Flyers' Briere draws 2-game suspension

The Flyers' already thin offense got thinner yesterday. Danny Briere, who leads the Flyers with 10 goals, was suspended for two games because of a hit the NHL deemed illegal on Colorado's Scott Hannan after the defenseman scored a goal in the Avalanche's 5-4 win Monday.

NHL suspends Flyers Briere for 2 games (AP)

The NHL has suspended Philadelphia Flyers forward Daniel Briere two games for a late hit on Colorado Avalanche defenseman Scott Hannan. The league announced the discipline Tuesday. The incident occurred at 9:06 of the second period Monday night, right after Hannan had scored. Briere will miss games Wednesday against the New York Islanders and Friday at Buffalo.
