Oh Leights!
As the owner of not one, but two Michael Leighton jerseys I guess you could say I'm happy to see him back in orange and black, even though I imagine his stint this time around will be just as short as the last time around. And before you get too excited about him winning his first two starts, let me remind you that he won his first two starts the last time around. The thing with Leighton is that when he is good, he's good. But then he falls apart and can't get himself back together again. It's nice to see the boys get two much needed wins, and start to see some of their confidence come back. They've got a rough week ahead, and I hope they can keep it up

Flyers Top Hurricanes In Shootout
The storylines were there. The return of Peter Laviolette to Carolina, the coach who brought a Stanley Cup to Raleigh NC in 2006 who is now trying to lead the Philadelphia Flyers to the promise land. Michael Leighton, the netminder who started the season with the promising Hurricanes squad. Only to be waived after the team fell to the bottom of the NHL standings and then picked up by Philadelphia. The Flyers were looking for their second straight win, a win that they desperately needed to push their confidence to the next level and to gain points in the ever clustered Easter Conference. unfortunately for the Flyers, it wasn’t that easy to earn their second consecutive victory

2 in a row!?
On paper, last nights game probably didnt get anyones heart racing. Carolina is the worst team in the league, & the Flyers are struggling bigtime. But the game turned out to be one of the more entertaining ones I've watched in quite some time. I was pumped when Danny Briere made it 3-0, but then all hell broke loose, & in the blink of an eye, the game was tied 3-3. Overtime was back & forth with both teams getting several quality scoring chances. Im a fan of the shootout, but it would have been neat to see overtime keep going the way it was. If the Flyers played the way they played in the 3rd period last night against a team like Washington or Pittsburgh, they would have gotten killed

Flyers Gameday: 11-27-09 vs. NYI
PREVIEW (9:30 AM) The Flyers will look for their third straight win today when they travel to Long Island to take on the Islanders. Philly usually does well against the Islanders, but today's tilt (which has an unusual 5 PM start time) will be a good test of whether the Flyers can avoid the type of collapses that marred the game last night in Carolina and on Wednesday in Tampa. Inside the Flyers: Flyers must overcome inconsistency
The Flyers' 5-2 win over Tampa Bay on Wednesday was a microcosm of their inconsistent season. In the first and third periods, they outshot the Lightning by a combined 32-19. Their passing was sharp, their forechecking persistent, their disciplined approach impressive.

An open letter to the local NHL hockey team
As we're sure you know, New Year's resolutions last about as long as that can't-miss diet before the first big holiday meal comes along.
