Flyers Gameday:More like a Drizzle

Tonight the Flyers all head back to reality a bit before we do as they take on the Carolina Hurricanes down in the dirty dirty.  Two days off after a convincing win against Tampa Bay, the Flyers opponent is struggling just as much as Philly.  Carolina is the worst team in the East, and have been beaten twice already this year by the Flyers.  If you think things are rough in Philly, try living in Eric Staal's shoes for a day.  The flyers are looking for consistency, and there is no better opponent this year for that, than Carolina. Carolina is looking like the front runner for the Adam Hall sweepstakes.  Troubling as this team has a lot of quality parts

The World Juniors Brought to You by Brazzers

Why do you know what Brazzers is? Maybe it's not to ask Santa for a little shame for Christmas. Anyway... The Flyers aren't the only game in town tonight.   Today kicks off the 2010 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships in Saskatchewan, Canada. A tournament where the best under 20 year old ice hockey players in the world meet up and strut their stuff for the teams that have already drafted them and the teams they hope will draft them. Oh yeah, they also represent their countries too.   As you can see above the NHL Network is broadcasting a slew of preliminary round games before the new year hits, which is great addition to the one week of the year where no one expects anything out of you at work.

Flyers to face demoralized Hurricanes

RALEIGH, N.C. - Tonight's Flyers opponent, the Carolina Hurricanes, weren't having a very jolly holiday break. While the Flyers were savoring a 5-2 win over Tampa Bay on Wednesday, the Hurricanes were bandaging their wounds from a listless 5-1 loss to Montreal the same night.

Heads-up! NHL could make rule to ban high hits (AP)

Keith Primeau is linked to the late Reggie Fleming even though their NHL careers were separated by decades. When severe brain injuries are the common thread, there is no generation gap. The problem isn't new, it's just finally starting to become understood. While the NHL Players' Association has pitched a ban of all hits to the head, the league hadn't moved to adopt such a rule.

Half-Assed Flyers Christmas Carol

If you're reading this right now you are seriously desperate for some distractions from your family. All the Christmas Oatmeal has been eaten and the reenactment of Christ's birth has taken place on your living room floor, and now you're searching for some sort of connection to the person you've become, because you don't really remember the kid that lived in this little house, whose pictures adorn the walls and bookshelves. To pass some of the time before you crack that first bottle of Kahlua let me tell you a little story about Christmas. A little story I'm writing on a Greyhound bus called the Lucky Streak where you get 66% reimbursed for your round trip ticket by whatever casino you end up pulling into in Atlantic City. Pretty sure the guy eating an egg salad sandwich and drinking purple soda next to me is going to steal my computer before I finish, but let me at least start. Enter the Ghost of Christmas Past… 13 years ago you were 13 years younger (I got a 740 in my math SATs)
