Rangers coach, reporter drop the gloves

If you think the Philly media is tough on Mike Richards, you should have heard the verbal exchange between New York Post beat writer Larry Brooks and Rangers coach John Tortorella following the Flyers' 2-0 win over the Rangers Thursday night at the Wachovia Center. Larry Brooks: Should one of your guys taken a third man in? John Tortorella: I'm not gonna answer any questions from you. Brooks: You're not? Torts: No. Brooks: Oh, good. I'll speculate

Evolution of a sports Philly sports fan

Back in June of 1994, I was a month shy of my 10th birthday. I had just started following hockey about a year earlier, and was of course, a Flyers fan. But they stunk during the early 90's, so come playoff time, I would "adopt" a team and root for them to win it all: I took the Kings in 1993, (what little kid didnt love Gretzky?) In the spring of '94, I adopted the Rangers. They were such a likable team, trying to end a long championship drought. They had so many players that I liked; Richter, Messier, Graves, Leetch, MacTavish. When they won, I was very happy for them and their fans. Jump ahead to 1995

Fonzie and Corporal Klinger

The Rags are coming to town. The Torts and Douchie show. Oh yeah, there's some guy named "King Henry" and "Gabby the Groin" that tags along with them too. And apparently they've been on a 'tear' since the Flyers ate their lunch 6-0 a few weeks back. If you call a 'tear' going 6-2-3. Well, I guess that's better that they have been playing. In fact, BOTH teams are playing much better now and this should be a dogfight tonight.

Flyers take on Rangers

Tonight will be a tough challenge for the boys in Orange. They need to come into this game firing on all cylinders. The past game against the Caps showed that they haven't played to their potential. The game started well but not long enough into the game. The game the other night was very strong but had lapses.

Last Sunday my adventure to DC started out with an “indefinitely delayed” train which I bailed on for an Acela ride instead. Nice, but not necessarily worth that $58 extra in fare just to get from Wilmington to Washington (value only in knowing I was going to get there on time, after all).Note: All the following was observed through my Flyers-fan eyes, going to see a team that is a rival in

There's only one question: How much do you like the Flyers?

Don't ask me how, but I found this post on Craigslist this afternoon. (OK, I searched Flyers in the Philly personals, that's how.) If you can't read that it says: Fit, athletic tone safe and sane professional MWM looking for hook up with younger (18-25) guy into Flyers. I will be traveling to Philly for the day from central PA and would like day time hook up. You must be DDF, average to GL and possibly host or have fun in my car. Willing to give some great seats for upcoming Flyers I have game as thanks.

A Real Gumbo Story

Unless they've already hit the black market, someone in Louisiana is holding onto something none of our readers would ever want. 7 teeth. Teeth that belong to Ian Laperriere. Seems Lappy had his teeth stolen on their way back to Philadelphia last week. Which is why you've been seeing him before and after games without his teeth. This little ditty provided for some amusement at the mor
