Have I told you lately that I love Laviolette?

Lavi smash. Because I do. I never had anything against Stevens, but it sorta felt like we were waiting for a real coach to show up. And now we have one! And he calls times out to yell at the guys! And he looks pissed off when the Flyers play like shit. He doesn't just pop another mint into his mouth after a goal against. His head looks like it's going to explode. I love him. And he blows blue bubbles!

Thrashers Come to Town Tonight

Ilya Kovalchuk and those 11th place (not by much) Atlanta Thrashers will be at the Wach tonight. Most of the news surrounding this team lately deals with the trade talk and where Kovalchuk might go considering he’s on the last year of his contract. The Flyers are one of the teams approached by

Flyers look to thrash Atlanta at home

Philadelphia Flyers- (26-22-3) vs. Atlanta Thrashers- (23-21-8) The Story: The Flyers are coming into this game looking to continue their hot streak as of late and wondering if this is the last time they’ll see superstar Ilya Kovalchuk in an Atlanta uniform. Atlanta are most likely pondering the same thing. When will Kovalchuk be dealt and to who? The Flyers have been linked to having interest in the sharp-shooting forward, but so have dozens of other teams around the NHL. It’s become a tough situation for Atlanta because its obvious that nobody would want to deal away their top player. In reality, Kovalchuk can’t stay there. He has to move to a bigger market and with a team that can challenge for the playoffs year after year.

Kovalchuk is Coming to Town

No, the Flyers didn't trade for him, and I complete agree with Tim Panaccio's article about why the 'Chook wouldn't work in Philly . I thought of photoshopping Ilya's face on a Flyers player but then thought... what's the point?!? The Flyers have plenty of offensive threats on this team. Given a little more time to adjust to Lavi's system, we'll start seeing the goals pour in. Our top players have had a tough run of things to start the season, but the offense is showing it's potential and I expect a tear to end the season.

Flyers Gameday – Birds of War

[Author's Note] - I'm out of town this weekend, and am writing this on Wed. night while sipping some Dale's Pale Ale. Obama is on, and I'm thinking about how the rest of the week plays out. For all I know, Scott Hartnell got traded tonight to Calgary for Dion Phanuef so if there is anything silly about the next two game preivews, just roll your eyes and say hi to your mother for me. Before there was an OV, there was an IK, and the third most powerful Russian (Drago, OV) in the world decends his red army onto the Wachovia Center. The Atlanta Thrashers are here tonight and we have to play them without Antero Niittymaki

Flyers Gameday: 1/28/10 vs. Thrashers

MINI- PREVIEW (10:30 AM) The Flyers have absolutely owned the Atlanta Thrashers in recent years but lost the only meeting between the clubs so far this season. Both clubs hit the skids in December but have played better hockey of late. Philly's streaky special teams have been in another down cycle in the last few games after an outstanding stretch spanning the previous 10 games. Peter Lav
