It looks like the Flyers are sitting on the top of the Playoff bubble. The advantage the Flyers have over every other team in the bubble is that they are at the top and have games in hand. The movement away from this bubble needs to start tonight. The Thrashers are in the bubble as well and the biggest distraction for them is Kovalchuk. The Flyers are one of the teams rumored to be in on the trade conversations but then again the Flyers are in on all of them. With a win tonight we are able to separate from the pack just a little more. We need to start by reeling in the Sens and Pens

Rangers vs. Hurricanes: ha ha! I saw the first four goals that Carolina scored; two off of neat and perfect deflections, one from Eric Staal banking off Lundqvist at a band angle, the fourth a slapshot that had Henrik looking around for the puck even after it hit the back of the net. It would have amused me more for the Blueshirts to score no goals, but Cam Ward let one in. Just one. He made

It's comp season for us average Joes. All over North America these days cube jockeys like you and I are finding out that we are not getting raises and our bonuses have been cut to Jelly of Every Other Month Club level. But at least we're still getting paid right? These days having a job at all seems good enough. But I would just like to take a second and put into perspective just how wide the gap is between us and professional athletes, in terms of keeping it real. Even keeping in mind that hockey players are by far the lowest compensated of all 4 major sports, their biweekly checks (if that's even how they're delivered) would be enough to make us kiss our bosses on the genitals daily in order to keep them coming. So picture very accurately, imagine if you will for a moment, your name on a check for any of these amounts every 15th and 30th of the month: Even Randy Jones gets a little Philadelphia Flyers check for $125,000 every couple of weeks. I don't want to show my hand too much but Danny Briere makes more in 2 weeks of work than I do in a year! (so do many, many other Flyers).

Let's start off tonight with a bit of news ... Blair Betts' wife is in labor. Wish her the best ... Kevin Allen of USA Today said this morning in a tweet that the Flyers would be ahead of everyone else in the NHL on Ilya Kovalchuk's list. Has anyone given this any thought. How many times Russian players find unhappiness going to a team that doesn't have ANY fellow Russians? Not sure why

Watch the top ten goals from last week!
I would have preferred Saturday’s game against bottom-dwelling Hurricanes to have involved more domination on the Flyers’ side but it was the usual tooth-and-nail type fight between the Carolina and Philadelphia organizations. The Flyers scored first (a common occurrence lately), early in the first period; the Hurricanes scored to tie it late in the first. Theirs was a power play goal, too
