Broad Street Daisies

The Flyers have decided to change their logo. Moving away from the intimidating brand of hockey that has characterized Philadelphia for the past nearly 40 years - the Broad Street Bullies - the team is looking to move towards a kinder, gentler approach. They are now the Broad Street Daisies. "It was tough a few years ago when we were at the bottom of the standings all year long," explained Flyers GM Paul Holmgren. "We know what that's like and we wanted to throw Edmonton a bone." Though Laviolette was not around during the dark year of '06, he was willing to acquiesce to management in order to 'throttle back' and let the guys take a night off. "You know, people will look at that replay where Richie completely missed a wide open net in the first period and think, 'Man, how could that happen?' Well, it was a designed play to show Quinn and his band of misfits that we're not really here to win," stated the Flyers coach
