He's a young guy who is still growing into his leadership role and even still developing as a player. He's got lots of upside and there are big expectations for him. It's not easy being tagged as the next Bobby Clarke. But a lot of what he says in post-game interviews as Team Captain really befuddle (love that word) the Philadelphia fans

Backlund to back up Boucher on Thursday
The Flyers announced today that they have recalled goaltender Johan Backlund (YOH-han BAHK-luhnd) from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms, and have loaned goaltender Jeremy Duchesne (DOO-shayn) to the Phantoms, according to club General Manager Paul Holmgren. Backlund will be available to play in Thursday’s Flyers-Wild game at the Wachovia Center. Backlund, 28, has a 21-17-2 record, with a 2.79 goals-against average, .906 save percentage and two shutouts in 41 appearances with Adirondack this season. This is his fourth recall with the Flyers this season. In addition to his time with the Phantoms, he dressed, but did not play in eight games for the Flyers and also appeared in two contests with the Flyers during the preseason, stopping 14 of 16 shots in 29:27 of play in their game vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs at the John Labatt Centre in London, Ontario on Sept. 17, and 11 of 14 shots in 33:38 of play vs.

Flyers postgame March 23
Chris Pronger, Brian Boucher and Mike Richards comment after the 2-0 loss in Ottawa on March 23, 2010.
One and Done On Horizon?
The one constant about Mike Richards as a captain has been his reluctance to truly call out his own teammates after losses. He criticisms are always muted with the positives he can find within the game, as if he were a head coach. Last night in Ottawa was different. Richards finally said the kind of things after the game that Chris Pronger and Kimmo Timonen have routinely said this season.
