Flyers Need to Quit Their Whining

JesusChristshutthefuckup about the refs. It's funny that of all people involved in the NHL it's a golfer with over zealous genitalia who's the one highlighting the biggest problem in hockey right now - a sense of entitlement. Get hit hard, go down. Get hit questionably, stay down. Bleed, curl up like a toddler. Get hit unfairly, earn your team a 7 minute penalty. Simon Gagne's actions last night were selfish.

Flyers Gameday: Nut up or Shut up

Tonight has "Holy Crapballs" implications. The trauma unit known as the Philadelphia Flyers is set to take on the prickly Ottawa Senators in a battle for the East's fifth seed. This game is the Assault in our American Gladiators season. It's the biggest event so far and the one that has the most impact on our season to date (sadly, there are no nerf guns being used, or tennis ball bazookas on the benches). In a few short weeks we've lost Ray Emery, Michael Leighton, chances to make a trade and Jeff Carter. We've played some very uninspiring hockey at the time when most clubs are gearing up for the playoffs

The Force Is Strong With This One

You remember that scene in Revenge Of The Sith? You know the one where, after coming out on the wrong end of a light saber duel with Obi Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker finds himself dragging his body from the lava pits of the planet Mustafar, missing an arm, both legs, and covered in burns to over

Flyers Gameday: 3-23-10 vs. Ottawa

PREVIEW (10:40 AM) With just four points separating the Flyers from the ninth-ranked Atlanta Thrashers in the Eastern Conference, the struggling Philly squad visits the fifth-seeded Ottawa Senators tonight. By the end of the night, the Flyers could either tie the Sens in the standings (with a game in hand) or drop ever closer to fighting the Habs, Bruins and Thrashers for the final playoff spot

Losing Carter Might Not Be a Big Deal

A slight correction to yesterday afternoon's post - block shots AND drink milk on the bench. You're no use to us if you have brittle bird bones. So there's two schools of thought on this whole Carter situation - either the club rallies round the family with a pocket full of shells or they sink like the Titanic. My guess is that the Flyers will defy the odds, prove everyone wrong, and land somewhere right in the middle, maybe even finishing in 8th and taking on the Capitals in the first round of the playoffs. Listen, it's not like they lost Danny Briere. And JVR's been saving up a truck load of goals over the past couple months. They just need another goal every other game for 10 games and someone to step up in the department that handles firing wicked wristers all over the place like a blind monkey
