When the Recchin Ball Comes For You

In case you missed it last night, the Flyers 8th leading scorer of all-time basically won the game for his Bruins with some savy play in the third period. The 50 year old vet knocked 13 year old Tim Kennedy off the puck in the corner and then fed Patrice Bergeron for what would hold up as the game winner.:   Can you recall a weaker display of defense since Steve Eminger did the curl-up-like-a-bear-is-trying-to-steal-your-lunch-money defense? I assume Kennedy thought that he and Recchi would just ride each other into the corner and wait for someone else to come dig the puck out of their skates. But then he got taught a lesson in playoff hockey by a 32 year vet who has his name etched into the Stanley Cup. That lesson being 'run youngin's over and take the puck.' The sad thing about the play is that the almost 20,000 people that were there probably don't remember it. Yesterday was Patriot's day in Boston. A day celebrated for early drinking, sporting event watching, and eventual fighting.

Lemaire: Too Many Flyers

Jacques Lemaire is unhappy with the officials for penalizing his team in the second period for the same infraction he claims the Flyers committed in OT: Too many men on the ice. “Nobody talked about them having too many guys just before our penalty [against David Clarkson],” Lemaire said tonight on a conference call with reporters. “Nobody saw that. We were yelling. A guy was at

Don’t tell captain Mike Richards and Dan Carcillo that. Carcillo netted the overtime game winner in last night’s Flyers 3-2 defeat of the New Jersey Devils to take a 2-1 series lead. With the Wachovia Center electrifying, the Flyers and Devils put forth an amazingly satisfying contest that ended with the Philadelphia faithful going home happy and voiceless. “Richie and [Simon] Gagne were banging away and they seemed occupied with those two guys and I snuck in there back door,” Carcillo said. “Luckily, it squirted out and I had a pretty easy tap-in.” “You never know,” said Flyer captain Richards.

Man that's gotta hurt, Devils Fans. The number one guy you don't want scoring overtime playoff goals against you in this series. The only player that will really become the headline. And he throws it in a pretty much empty net at the beginning of the first overtime. What's worse? The loss or that it came at Daniel Carcillo's hands

Inside Flyers’ OT win over Devils

Flyers coach Peter Laviolette sees a trend in this first round playoff series against the New Jersey Devils and he wants it to end. Although the Flyers hold a 2-1 edge in the series, they have skated on the wrong side of their coach’s disciplinary tight rope and will hear about it right up until Game 4 Tuesday night in Philadelphia. “I’m very disappointed in the penalties we took,” Laviolette said after the Flyers killed off six of eight penalties in Sunday’s 3-2 overtime win. “They were lazy penalties. Too many hooks and hold ups. We need to let our legs do the work and keep our sticks on the ice. “I’m also disappointed there weren’t more infractions the other way.” Through three games, the Flyers have killed off 13 of the Devils’ 16 power plays
