Inside Flyers’ 5-3 loss in Game 2

Unlike most professional sports, there is a distinct strategic advantage to playing at home in the Stanley Cup playoffs and the Flyers plan on using it when they return to Philadelphia for Game 3 of their deadlocked first-round series against the Devils. The Devils knotted the series Friday night when Zach Parise led a relentless attack on the Flyers’ third defensive pair of 23-year-old defensemen Ryan Parent and Oskars Bartulis, finally banging home the winning goal with 4:04 to play. So, despite the fact Chris Pronger logged a game-high 27:26, Devils coach Jacques Lemaire was able to get his top line on the ice against the Flyers’ most inexperienced defense when it mattered most. “We don’t have the luxury of a last change,” Pronger said. “You’re going to get caught out there at times.

Flyers Playoff Gameday: Game 2

Tonight, the Flyers invade the Rock in hopes of taking the second of two games to start this best of seven series. Riding high off of solid performances from Brian Boucher, Mike Richards, Chris Pronger, Ian Laperriere and Blair Betts, the Flyers hope that they mastery over the Devils continues. Watching Game 1, it was clear that New Jersey was getting the better scoring chances and started the game with a lot more buzz. Game 1 was not dominated by the Flyers. They survived a first period onslaught thanks to Brian Boucher and had a stellar 2nd period. They'll have to make sure there are no lapses tonight to beat a team that will be very desperate to tie this series up. A big head scratcher is Marty Brodeur
