Flyers Prospects Chasing Down OHL Title

Photo:

Depending on the outcome of tomorrow's Windsor Spitfires - Kitchener Rangers Conference Final Game 7, two Flyers prospects could be facing off in the Ontario Hockey League Finals for the first time since 1877 (I don't know since when, or if ever, and don't feel like looking into it to get four dumb numbers for this post. As a fan blogger I have neither the responsibility nor patience to report responsibly). Over in the Eastern Conference Luke Pither and his Barrie Colts have cruised into the Finals, dropping only a single game in 3 playoff series. Pither has 18 points in 13 games, good for a share of the lead among the Colts. The Flyers prospect in the West, Eric Wellwood of the Windsor Spitfires, has struggled during this post season when compared to the 21 points in 20 game run he had last year - which is what probably got him drafted. Wellwood averaged over a point a game during the regular season but only has 8 points through 14 playoff games. You can expect both of these guys to be on the Adirondack Phantoms next year. So it's best you start paying attention sooner rather than later

Epic Fatality

Flyers Advance This picture could have gone any number of ways... Giroux fatal'ing Brodeur Pronger fatal'ing Kovalchuk Timo fatal'ing Elias Boucher fatal'ing, well, every Devils player Lavi fatal'ing Lemaire Homer fatal'ing Louie Lam Ryan at FGSB fatal'ing Puck Daddy and the list goes on... But I thought that Boosh and Brodeur was the most fitting. Mr. Boucher, you earned this. Just a few weeks back, everyone thought you were the worst goalie to ever walk the planet... but I knew you had a surprise up your sleeve

News on Laperriere will wait until Saturday

Any injury news on Ian Laperriere will need to wait until Saturday when swelling around his eye subsides. Per Paul Holmgren…. “Jeff and Simon’s surgeries went very well. Their recovery time has not changed. Ian Laperriere will be evaluated again tomorrow, once the swelling around the affected area goes down, the doctors will have a better idea of his status.”

Boosh Joins Hexy

Pretty impressive win over the Devils by the Flyers on Thursday night in rainy Newark. The last time the Flyers closed out a playoff series with a shutout win ... well, most of your were not even born. That would be April 16, 1987 when Ron Hextall shut out the Rangers at Madison Square Garden in a 5-0 rout. More than two decades later, the Boosh - Brian Boucher - puts his mark on that

Boucher steller as Flyers oust Devils in 5 games

The Philadelphia Flyers were a team in the regular season that lacked consistency, urgency, and in some cases life. However, after last night’s game 5 series clinching win against the New Jersey Devils, the Flyers are a new team. A team with urgency, consistency and life. The Flyers ousted the New Jersey Devils in five games after they handed Martin Brodeur and his Devils their third straight first-round exit, 3-0. Brian Boucher shocked the hockey world by besting the future hall-of-fame goalie in Brodeur. Boucher came into this series trying not to relive history that happened to him a decade ago when his Flyer were up three games to one against these Devils in the 2000 Eastern Conf. Finals when New Jersey rallied off three straight wins to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals. Boucher didn’t only forget about what happened those 10 years ago, he captured his own history and out-dueled the Devils and became the first team in the NHL playoffs to move on to the next round
