Car Bomb Time

CHICAGO _ So the operative question this evening in the not-so-Windy City where it's been raining much of the day is ... Will the Car Bomb explode and how much damage does he do in Game 2 against Chicago in this Stanley Cup Final? Dan Carcillo has shown in these playoffs how much of an effective player he can be when his emotions border on the insane but don't cross the line. Peter Laviole

Flyers Gameday: Stanley Cup Finals Game 2

Photo:

I can't believe you're reading this. From the bathroom at a B-B-Q no less. Good for you. If there are cans you should shotgun one, if there are only bottles then congrats for making it into Donald Trumps' inner circle of friends. By now you surely know that Oskars and Daniel are in, Ryan and Rabbit are out. Earlier today I asked myself some questions, much in the same form as The Committed Indian asked us, and here's the best I could do. Not that Sir Anthony J.

Carcillo, Bartulis back in Flyers’ lineup

Winger Dan Carcillo will replace rookie James van Riemsdyk and rookie defenseman Oskars Bartulis will replace Ryan Parent in tonight's Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Fiinals. Carcillo has been a healthy scratch since Game 4 of the conference finals against the Montreal Canadiens when Jeff Carter replaced him in the lineup. Bartulis has not played since Game 2 of the first round series against the Devils. Look for Carcillo to be reunited with Simon Gagne and Mike Richards on the top line, while Jeff Carter slides down to a third line with Claude Giroux and Arron Asham. That would give the Flyers scoring threats on their top three lines while not disrupting the second line of Danny Briere, Ville Leino and Scott Hartnell. The return of Carcillo is no great surprise, but throwing Bartulis into a Stanley Cup Final is risky. Parent played just 41 seconds in Game 1, when Troy Brouwer scored on Parent's only shift of the game. Bold and risky move by Peter Laviolette, who likely will play Bartulis sparingly tonight

Let’s Get the Split! Carbomb’s Return?

Tonight the Flyers hope to overcome the 6-5 loss on Saturday night. With one more game left before a couple home games, this one is pretty important. Grab the momentum and go home with a chance to take them both and go up big is something this team would love to do. Saturday nights game

J. SanFillipo is a Joke

Photo:

Joseph Pulitzer probably had no idea that journalism would reach its pinnacle on Sunday May 30th, 2010. He definitely didn't know it would be Anthony J. SanFilippo who would take it there in an online post in which he scornfully broke up with an athlete who could never reach SanFilippo's level of greatness. The 'paragraph' that will go down as the greatest in the history of journalism: Let me set it for you straight. The change is coming on defense. Ryan Parent is done

Flyers Playoff Gameday: Game 2 vs. Blackhawks

(PREVIEW 8:30 AM) The Flyers can ill-afford to fall behind 0-2 in the Stanley Cup Final, so they need to quickly put aside the frustration of losing a game in which they held three leads and stayed out of the penalty box but paid dearly for playing far too loose defensively. The Blackhawks didn't bring anything close to their A-game in the opener, and I expect Chicago to play a much better game

Danny’s Diary: Long night of thinking

This is the first installment of Danny's Diary, a daily look at the Stanley Cup Finals through the eyes of Flyers center Danny Briere: We were really quiet on the bus. After you lose a game like that nobody’s too excited. We had a team dinner at the hotel. You just kind of want to get away and it’s tough to enjoy being in the Finals. I think everybody went into their rooms and weren’t feeling too good about the way things went. I know I went back to my room and just sat there with long thoughts. It was just a long night
