Pre-Training Camp Tid Bits

Things are still pretty quiet in Philadelphia.  Not much to discuss, so I’ll touch on a few minor stories flaoting around Guerin invited to try out: Like Blair Betts last season, Bill Guerin has been given the opportunity to try out for the team. This should come as no surprise to anyone. Did you really buy that bullshit we were fed that he was only skating with the Flyers because he was in the area?  I don’t want to get into it too much, because I already talked about it . Road uniforms to be unveiled: This happens on Friday, as training camp opens. Rumor has it that they will be similar to the white uni’s the team had at the winter classic

How to Get Bill Guerin on the Flyers

Offer him $1M with some bonuses for elderly players. Send Bartulis down to the Phantoms. And that's it. We're allowed to have 23 players on the roster opening night and in this situation we'd have 7 defensemen, 14 forwards, and 2 goalies. Right now we're about $880k under the cap (Thanks Riles!).

Flyers Rookie Camp: Day 1

I will be attending the first and third days of the Flyers rookie camp in Voorhees and will blog about any notable news and observations. Luckily for everyone, you will be spared my on-air broadcasting "talents" at this year's rookie game against the Capitals prospects (I was a commentator on last year's webcast on the Flyers and Caps sites) as I will not be making the trip to Virginia. No Fehr of Work Stoppage

A lot of you out there in Ek-land have been very nervous about what lies ahead for the NHL once the new NHLPA boss comes in. Specifically, whether Donald Fehr will lead the players into a work stoppage like he did with Major League Baseball that led to the cancellation of the World Serious. I was on the Fehr conference call today after the union's exec.
