As any fan knows, the Winter Classic has become a popular event during the NHL regular season. Last year, the had the Flyers vs some other guys, I’m not sure who. Some team that was erased from the history books because of a monumental playoff collapse, I believe. This year, the featured teams will be Pittsburgh and Washington . Nothing to cure a New Years Eve hangover like watching some outdoor hockey

Leighton says he’s fine, Walker to go on IR?
Michael Leighton told reporters after Monday's practice that he's NHL ready and expects top be cleared after being examined on Tuesday. If Leighton is cleared, the FLyers will need to remover a player from their 23-man roster to make room for him and it appears they will place defenseman Matt Walker on their injury list. Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said Walker injured his hip in a game with the Phantoms over the weekend, but said, "I'm not sure" when asked how the injury occurred, leading to some speculation that Holmgren is fabricating Walker's injury so that he can place him on the injured list, which removes him from the 23-man active roster, making room for Leighton.

Shelley Suspended 2 Games
Jody Shelley got a 2-game suspension for his hit from behind on Boston's Adam McQuaid from SAT's game in Beantown. No real surprise. He'll miss TUE's game vs Pittsburgh and WED's game in Montreal.
