According to Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren, five Flyers will undergo offseason surgery and three others will know by the end of the week if they are candidates for surgery as well. Center Mike Richards will have surgery to repair a torn wrist ligament injured during training camp; right wing Kris Versteeg will undergo surgery to repair a hernia; center Blair Betts will undergo finger surgery; and defenseman Andrej Meszaros will have wrist surgery. Scott Hartnall and Jeff Cartrer are being evaluated for hip issues that may require surgery and Chris Pronger should know later today if back surgery is required

Chris Pronger may or may not need surgery to repair what he suspects may be a herniated disk in his back. He will visit some specialists on Tuesday to canvass some opinions. Pronger was his usual snarly self today but I sense he wants to avoid a 4th surgery if he can. We all know how it ended for John LeClair
