Rinaldo injury opens door for Shelley return to Flyers’ lineup

It took a couple of Flyers injuries, but Flyers tough-guy Jody Shelley will be back in the Flyers’ lineup Tuesday night against the Minnesota Flyers tough-guy Jody Shelley, a healthy scratch for much of the season, will see his first game action in almost a month tonight at the Wells Fargo Center against the Minnesota Wild. Shelley hasn’t played since Dec. 23, but will get an another opportunity because the Flyers are down to 12 healthy forwards with left wing James van Riemsdyk being lost last weekend with a concussion and rookie winger Zac Rinaldo being unavailable Tuesday due to an upper-body injury. Shelley, 35, will be playing for just the 15th time in 44 games. Shelley, who has one assist, one fight and is a minus-4, was suspended for the Flyers’ first seven games due to a preseason head hit, then was a healthy scratch 22 times in the Flyers’ next 36 games.
