Flyers facing shorthanded Wings squad

The Flyers appear to be catching the Detroit Red Wings at the right time Tuesday night at Wells Fargo Center. Nicklas Lidstrom, the Red Wings’ seven-time Norris Trophy-winning defenseman, is nursing an ankle injury and didn’t make the trip. All-Star Pavel Datsyuk, arguably the top two-way forward in the NHL and the Wings’ top scorer with 59 points, was left home, too, due to a knee injury. All-Star goalie Jimmy Howard suffered a groin injury and isn’t on the trip, either
