March 18, 2010
Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren revealed today that goaltender Michael Leighton will be sidelined 8 to 10 weeks with a high ankle sprain. That means Brian Boucher will carry the goaltending duties through the remainder of the regular season and the playoffs. The earliest Leighton could return to the Flyers is likely the third round of the playoffs and if Boucher can get them that far, he would almost certainly be given the job the remainder of the post-season. Emery to undergo hip surgery, out for season
March 2, 2010
The Flyers announced today that goaltender Ray Emery will undergo surgery in the near future to repair his right hip and will be out for the remainder of the season, according to club General Manager Paul Holmgren. “He is suffering from avascular necrosis and will have a bone graft done to alleviate his hip issues,” said Holmgren. The surgery will be performed by Dr. David Ruch at Duke University Medical Center. The date and time of the procedure will be determined at a future date. Emery, 27, has a 16-11-1 record with a 2.64 goals-against average and .905 save percentage, including three shutouts, in 29 appearances with the Flyers this season.

Coburn out with ankle injury
December 14, 2009
According to Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren, defenseman Braydon Coburn will miss tonight's game against the Bruins in Boston with an ankle injury. He is being listed as day-to-day. Ole-Kristian Tollefsen is expected to take Coburn's spot in the lineup tonight and will either skate alongside Kimmo Timonen or Oskars Bartulis. If Tollefsen plays on the third pairing, Ryan Parent will move up onto the second pairing with Timonen. Just for kicks, if Oskars Bartulis and former Flyers defenseman Freddy Meyers were paired together, could we call them Oskars-Meyer?
