The saying goes, you have to hit rock bottom before you can start getting better and it looks like the Flyers are starting on the right path, bolstering their defence for the future with the acquisitions of Kukkonen and prospects Braydon Coburn and Ryan Parent, while winger Scottie Upshall has made a smooth transition as well.
Key Injuries: RW Mike Knuble (orbital bone).

TSN Power Rankings March 5

28 out of 30

Its been about a month or so since I have checked the power rankings and the Flyers are actually NOT last anymore.
Getting points in 6 out of their last 10 games have helped. So far Upshall has had he biggest impact.

The most talked-about player during the All-Star break was a Flyer, Peter Forsberg. The bad news for Philly fans is that the topic was whether he's going to remain a Flyer.
Key Injuries: None.

Forsberg not remaining a Flyer, I don't think is bad news depending on what the Flyers get in return and I think his foot is putting the Flyers in a hard position. If his foot cant be fixed he isn't going to resign with anyone. So how long does he wait until his foot is good or not? There are 13 games left before the trade deadline.

If his foot is good to go then Forsberg would still have to waive his no trade clause. Unless the trade is going to be with a playoff bound team I don't see it happening. Who is going to give up enough for Forsberg? Lots of rumors going around and Im sure there will a lot more before Feb 27

MVP: Simon Gagne
Unsung Hero: Mike Knuble
Top Rookie: Ryan Potulny
Best Call-up: Ryan Potulny
Second-half Breakthrough: Jeff Carter
Key Injuries: None.

True, true.
One of the many problems with the Flyers is there are no defensemen on that list.
Rookies Picard and Jones have been ok. Nolan Baumgartner could have been one of those guys, but he is stuck on the Phantoms for the rest of the year.

The Flyers have lost six straight and have now taken to giving positive statements about that night's loss.
Key Injuries: LW Geoff Sanderson (abdominal strain).

Sanderson is back, the only injuries and ya they are key are Gauthier and Rathje.
Still 30 out of 30 in the ranking.

With six straight losses, the Flyers are finding more and more guys on the injured list, yet curiously traded young defenceman Freddy Meyer for 34 year-old Alexei Zhitnik. Call it a new approach to the rebuilding process.
Key Injuries: C Jeff Carter (tibia), LW Geoff Sanderson (abdominal strain).

TSN Power Rankings December 18

Still dead last in the ranking and make that 7 straight losses.
A little thin on listing the key injuries don't you think?
Add Forsberg, Richards, Kapanen, Gauthier, Esche and Rathje.

From the rooftops, people have cried that the Flyers are too slow for the new NHL. The solution? Naturally, to bring Todd Fedoruk back into the fold.
Key Injuries: RW Mike Knuble (finger), C Jeff Carter (tibia).

TSN Power Rankings November 13

Still in 30th.
Speed (except for Pylon and Rathje) are not killing the Flyers this year. A lack of drive, passion and the will to win is.

Derian Hatcher has been much-maligned for being too slow to keep up in the new NHL. None of the criticism stings like his minus-15 rating through 13 games.
Key Injuries: RW Mike Knuble (finger).

TSN Power Rankings November 6

Still in 30th
Make that minus -17 for Pylon.
Add Carter, Kane, Robitaille and maybe Rathje to the key injuries.

First Power Rankings of the year from TSN has the Flyers in 11th.

Tinkering -- by adding the likes of Kyle Calder, Geoff Sanderson and Nolan Baumgartner -- isn't enough to expect big improvement from the Flyers, but if their young guns (Jeff Carter, Mike Richards, R.J. Umbergerger, Freddy Meyer) can all elevate their games, maybe the Flyers will be back in contention.
Key Injuries: G Antero Niittymaki (hip).

TSN Power Rankings October 2

Personally, I am not expecting big improvements from the Flyers. If they can stay healthy they will be fine.

The on-again, off-again health of Peter Forsberg may be the most crucial issue for the Flyers, though the lack of a reliable goaltender would have to be a close second. There's enough talent here, particularly as Jeff Carter and R.J. Umberger continue to get better, to make some noise, but there are visible holes.
Key Injuries: D Kim Johnsson (head), C Keith Primeau (concussion).

TSN Power Rankings April 19

Down to 9 from 7 for the last power ranking of the year.
Do playoff Flyers play like regular season Flyers, or can they turn it on?

Mediocre play lately (9-9-2 in the last 20), coupled with another Forsberg injury, has the Flyers in a tough spot to finish the season. Worse, there doesn't seem to be an easy choice between the pipes as Robert Esche has been better than Antero Niittymaki over the last couple of weeks.
Key Injuries: D Kim Johnsson (head), C Peter Forsberg (groin).

TSN Power Rankings April 10

Just noticing the mediocre play eh?
Forsberg will be ready when playoff time comes around.
Got add a name to that Key Injuries list Keith Primeau.
He might also be ready when playoff time comes around.

Down from 4 to 7
