The Flyers have won five of their last six games, including a win over the Atlantic-rival Rangers. But will the goalie controversy take on new meaning come late April? Robert Esche again voiced his "frustration" to the media, saying the "writing was on the wall" that Antero Niittymaki is going to be Philly's No. 1 goalie.
Frustration? Eh, maybe a little but he just speaking the truth.

After losing five of your last seven games, where are you going to go? If you're the Flyers, it's not Disney World, just the beach. Staff thought it would be best to let the boys relax before a game vs. Florida. Most said it was the best thing for the team. We'll see.
I think it helped. The real test is tonight against the Devils and tomorrow against the Rangers.

The Flyers' hopes are teetering on the health of C Peter Forsberg, whose latest knee injury is the fourth nagging injury to hit him this season.
Key Injuries: None.
No Key Injuries?
Keith Primeau out for the season.

Therein too, but I guess he doesn’t count.

The Flyers were boosted last week on the expectation that now healthy Peter Forsberg and Simon Gagne would help right the ship. The duo has only put up a combined seven points in 11 games since the Olympic break, though.
Key Injuries: D Kim Johnsson (head), C Michal Handzus (shoulder).
boosted? Playing 500 hockey isn't exactly a boost. But I guess since most of the league is doing the same, then its not that bad.
Have to add Hatcher and Primeau to the key injuries. Just because he is not coming back this year, doesnt mean his injury isn't important.
Holding at 7 from last week.

Let's get this out of the way right off the top: Ken Hitchcock is a frickin' hockey brainiac. How else do you explain the guy getting what he has out of this ambulance frequent-passenger team? Guys are in and out of the lineup, goalies slump, then do well ... however, the luck is starting to run dry. Fortunately, Peter Forsberg and Simon Gagne are back in the lineup to help out.
Luck started to run dry back in January. Yeah Forsberg and Gagne are backing the lineup, unfortunately defensive play is where they need the help.

Up to 7 from 13.
So a 4 game losing streak plus two healthly players equal improvement?

Ever since returning from their great road trip, the Flyers have struggled (2-4-2), due in part to Peter Forsberg's on-again, off-again groin injury. The good news is that D Joni Pitkanen is back, helping to ease the load on a heavily-taxed defence.
Key Injuries: D Eric Desjardins (shoulder), C Keith Primeau (concussion), C Peter Forsberg (groin).

Losing 2 out of 4 since the last ranking to teams ranked 15 and 23. Up to 7 from 9, how does that happen?

The Flyers don't have Peter Forsberg and they got blown out by the Lightning, yet they are still able to hold their own. Derian Hatcher is now captain of the team as Philly realizes Keith Primeau might not come back this season. When did Hatcher say he was last a team captain? For his Midget team?
NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
Derian Hatcher was last a team captain for the Dallas Stars, remember 1999, he won the Cup? The first American captain to do so. For proof I offer up the Derian Hatcher action figure.

Do ya see the C on his jersey?
The question wasn’t when Hatcher was last a team captain. The question was when was he first a team captain. Yes midgets, that is what he said.
