NHL 2008 schedule released
July 19, 2008
So in just 84 days we will have regular season hockey again. We will have preseason games goodness before that. I will update the schedule when that is available.
I am glad to see the NHL modify the schedule a bit so the Flyers will play every other team at least once. Although I would have liked to see them play the entire Western Conference twice, once at home and once out west. Instead of just Colorado, LA and the Sharks.
Just like last season every back to back, 2 games in 2 days involve travel.
Tickets now on sale.

June 20, 2008
Flyers traded R.J. Umberger and a 4th round pick to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Columbus's 1st round 19th pick and 3rd round pick.
Would liked to have seen him stay but the salary cap made it difficult.
The pick turns out to be defenseman Luca Sbisa of the WHL's Lethbridge Hurricanes. Flyers need some depth in defense, ya.

Sami Kapanen retires from the FLyers and NHL
June 4, 2008
Sad to see Sami go.
Now if we can just transfer Sami's hard working, hard playing, team first ethics to Briere. Both players are literally the same size. Besides heart, there is no reason he cant play with the same intensity as Sami always did.

Season 2008 in the books
May 18, 2008
No more practices, no more skating and no more game days for the Flyers, at least for next 3 months or so. Time to kick back relax and maybe play a little golf.
When looking back at the season is the glass half full or half empty?
Going from the worse Flyers team ever, back to the conference finals has to be considered a great accomplishment. On the other hand why is it every time that I can remember in recent memory the Flyers get eliminated in the playoffs its a blowout. There is something about how the team approaches games that just can't be right, something mental that needs to be fixed.

Timonen expected to play in game 5
May 17, 2008
Good news for the Flyers if he can play. Game 5 is going to be tough, really tough for them to win.
Pittsburgh has not lost at home since February 24. If Timonen can go who to sit? Modry, Kukkonen, Parent?
