I was going thru the October site stats and was checking out some of the search terms that brought people to the site. There were a few questions I know are not answered on the site. I will take the time now to try to answer a few.

I am not going to go into detail, but the NHL has pissed me off again, this time enough for me not to care anymore. So I am walking away from the NHL and selling the site.

Any Flyer fan interested in taking over please checkout the auction.
Email me at mike@flyersfancentral.com if you have any questions.

Changes are coming....

Site redesign

I have done a site redesign if it was not already obvious.
My hope is to bring more content and resources to the site then before.
Since schooling for me is over, at least for now I should have more time to devote to the site.
Hopefully this season wont have the amount of suckage as last years did.

FlyersFanCentral doubles in size.

For several years I had thought about starting this website, FlyersFanCentral. Last year I actually got the site out of my head and on the net. While it has seemed more work than hobby on occasions the site itself has been rewarding. The people I have met thru other hockey blogs have been interesting, very knowledgeable, passionate about hockey and sometimes down right funny.
I have always thought/hoped that the site would be much more than just me ranting about this or arguing about that. The first step in this hope happened this week. Josh, another Flyers fan approached me about wanting to add his perspective to the site. For the site and for Flyers fans I think this is great. So now FFC has two voices.
Welcome aboard Josh!

I didn’t want to do this, but the spam has gotten to be too annoying to deal with.
If you want to post in the Shout Box on the right you need to a registered user now.
It doesn’t cost anything, you won’t get any spam from me and it’s very easy to do.
Just click on the Register option under the Menu and put in your info.
You can still post blog comments anonymously.

With the NHL on Olympic break there is not a lot of Flyers news to talk about. So I took this time to make some style changes to the website. I hope it looks a little nicer and more important everything still works!

awstats

Stats, stats, stats, we all love stats. At least I do.
At the beginning of January I started using awstats to keep stats on FlyersFanCentral. I figure I share some of them for the month of January.

So for the month of January there were 1,505 unique visitors.
The 24th had the most visits for one day at 211.
Tuesdays had more traffic than any other day.
The 1pm hour had more traffic than any other hour.
United States was the top country, followed by Canada, Great Britain, Sweden and Germany.
85.8% of visitors used Windows, 71.2% used XP. Linux visitors were at 0.1%, Macintosh at 4.6%.
71.7% of visitors used Microsoft Internet Explorer, 70.4% used version 6.
13.5% of visitors used FireFox, 7.6% used version 1.5
Netscape visitors were at 1.0%, Safari 2.1%, Mozilla 2.9%, Camino 1.6%, and Opera at 0.2%
Top three screen resolutions were 1027x768 at 57.7%, 800x600 at 15.0% and 1280x1024 at 13.2%.
The top three keyphrases used on search engines were peter nedved wife 6.5%, tasker vs senn at 4.4% and keith primeau injury update at 1.8%
The top three keywords used on search engines were tasker 6.2%, senn 5.5% and flyers 4.9%.

What are excluded from these stats are any visits from my connection at home and from my connection at work.

Wordpress Upgrade

I have upgraded Word Press, the blog software that runs this site, to version 2.0.

The site was unavailable for maybe 15 minutes. The process seemed to go quite smoothly. Most of the changes were ‘under the hood’, so most everything should look the same.
