Gagne goes to the doctor

Just got back from the Flyers' practice, where Simon Gagne declined to speak to me - a rarity for him -- because he said he was "going to the doctor" with Flyers athletic trainer Jim McCrossin. Gagne has no goals and three assists in five games this season and has lacked the jump he showed most of last season when he finished with 34 goals. Gagne, who injured his right groin during Team Canada's workouts in September,  told me last week that he was still feeling "tightness" in his right groin area and that he hoped it was just a matter of getting it loose. When I asked John Stevens about Gagne today, he said he thinks it's only a matter of time before Gagne gets up to speed. It should be noted that Stevens conducted hard sprints after today's practice and that it is possible Gagne may have re-injured his groin during those gassers.
