Briere out with upper-body injury

Danny Briere had his best game of the year in the Flyers’ worst, scoring four points in Thursday night’s 9-8 loss to Winnipeg. Turns out Briere must have been injured at some point in the game because the Flyers’ alternate captain will miss Saturday night’s game against Carolina with an upper-body injury. The Flyers are carrying one extra forward, so rotating fourth-line wingers Jody Shelley and Andreas Nodl both are expected to be in the lineup tonight. Briere has 10 points in 10 games this season
