Simmonds NHL’s No. 1 star of week


Flyers right wing Wayne Simmonds' painful but rewarding week was noticed by the NHL. Breaking out of a 16-game goalless slump, Simmonds was named the league's No. 1 start for the week on Monday after scoring five goals and six points in four games, one of his scores deflecting off his face and into the net. Simmonds was bloodied badly and received six or seven stitches running from the bridge of his nose to his right eyebrow, but finished the game and then played again Sunday despite waking up with his eye so swollen that he could barely see
